- Set the date, time, budget and guest numbers
- Choose a theme (birthday, Christmas, Union Jack / royal events, garden or BBQ)
- Book the venue, or plan the space at home
- Send invitations and ask about dietary needs
2 to 3 weeks before
- Order decorations: balloons, banners, bunting, table covers
- Order tableware: plates, cups, napkins, cutlery (allow some spares per guest)
- Plan the food, drinks and cake (cupcake cases and toppers)
- Plan games, music and party bags for children
1 week before
- Confirm guest numbers
- Check you have candles, a lighter, bin bags and cleaning supplies
- Charge any LED or battery decorations and buy spare batteries
The day before
- Inflate foil balloons (latex balloons last longer if blown up on the day)
- Set up tables and decorations
- Prepare food that can be made ahead
On the day
- Final decorations, food out, music on
- Keep a tidy-up kit nearby: bin bags, wipes, kitchen roll

Order early. Standard UK delivery is free. Next-day delivery is free on orders over £40 placed by 2pm Monday to Friday, and Saturday delivery costs £9.99. You can also use click & collect from our Cheshunt showroom.
